Unfortunately, dental emergencies do happen at the most inconvenient times. That is why at Lake Worth Children's Dentistry we provide same-day care. If your child is in pain and needs to be seen, call our staff at 817-238-6450; we will find time for your child to be seen during our normal business hours. We also provide after hour care for our patients in which the phone calls will be forwarded directly to Dr. Vo's personal cell phone number.
Most Common Dental Emergencies
-Toothache/abscess: Rinse the mouth with warm water and use dental floss to dislodge any food that may be dislodged into the affected tooth. If pain continues, use a cold compress to ease the pain/swelling. Do not apply heat or aspirin to the affected area as this can cause damage to the gums. Over-the-counter Motrin or Tylenol can be taken for pain relief. Call the office at 817-238-6450 immediately.
-Broken, Chipped or Fractured Tooth: Rinse the mouth with warm water and apply a cold compress to reduce swelling. If you can find the broken tooth piece, bring it with you to the dentist. If you see the nerve which can be red or pink in the middle of the tooth, call the office at 817-238-6450 immediately.
-Dental trauma can happen due to falls, car accidents, sports injuries or physical altercations in which the tooth is displaced and mobile. Call the office at 817-238-6450 so we can stabilize the tooth with a splint, which will facilitate healing and comfort.
-Knocked out permanent tooth: Rinse the tooth gently in milk, saline, or saliva. Be careful not to touch the root with your fingers. If possible, replant tooth back into the socket. If unable to replant tooth, place in milk, saliva, or saline. Seek IMMEDIATE dental treatment. If treated in a timely manner, we may be able to save the tooth.
